Purpose
The purpose of this assignment is to prepare the nursing student for professional practice at the doctoral level. The student will explore the role of the nurse leader in the provision of leadership in system evaluation and policy.
In completing this assignment, the student will:
-Appraise the role of the doctorally prepared nurse leader.
-Appraise the role of the nurse leader in the provision of leadership in system evaluation and healthcare policy.
-Promote patient/student safety through quality improvement measures supported by evidence.

o Select a professional board that interests you; it doesn’t have to be healthcare related. (If you serve, or have served on a board, you are welcome to apply that experience for this section).

 Describe the purpose of the organization including their mission, the population served, and roles and responsibilities of board members.
 One board responsibility is policy creation. Identify and describe a policy your selected board might create.

 What skills and attributes would you, as a nurse leader, bring to a board? (This part is reflective; write in first person).
• Conclusion:
Summarize the role of the nurse leader in the provision of leadership in system evaluation and policy creation and administration in the conclusion to your paper.
