I need my personal statement for medical school edited. My current issues are im having trouble with telling the story about why I want to become a doctor. My ultimate reason is I have seen death throughout my childhood from close friends to family members all whom I wasnt able to save. I want to save people because I couldnt save the people I love. On a personal level I grew up in a really harsh environment. I struggled in college because I was all alone, I had no family to call on for help because they didnt have it. After returning for my senior year post covid, I was homeless. I slept on my friends sofa most of senior year when I wasnt working my EMT job. I worked overtime because I had no place to go. I graduated college a semester early then returned home, where i slept on another sofa because the house I grew up had no space as my brothers and cousins lived there. I felt distant from my goal of becoming a doctor because life was taking me down a dark road so I joined the Navy to escape poverty and realign with goal of becoming a doctor. Since joining it has been my main focus and with the help of my leadership and military friends I have motivation. I am a navy corpsman now specifically an orthopedic technian. I enjoy helping people, i love saving people. I am apart of naval hospital guam rapid response team and I love the adrenaline rush i get when the announcement comes on calling for the rapid response team to go wherever there is a trauma in the hospital. I get to use my EMT skills and i know advanced life support so i usually take lead until the doctor comes in.
I need help explaining my struggles and how they molded into wanting to become a doctor.
