1. Do you view a narrower or more expansive definition of genocide as most useful? Why? How, if at all, would you amend the official UN definition of genocide that we discussed?
2. Do you think French colonial conquest in Algeria constituted a genocidal project? Why or why not?
3. To what extent do you think universal conceptions of human rights inspired or motivated revolutionary action in Algeria?
4. Was violent revolution in Algeria inevitable?
